1. Athletic Training Intern Scores with the NFL

    Josh Clarke wanted to learn more about what to do with his life. A senior in Athletic Training, he found his answer in the NFL, landing an internship for training camp with Bengals last season. "The NFL is a great job opportunity. I got to work with high profile athletes, meet new people, and expand my network," said Josh. "My education here at UC enabled me to do my job very well, and I left a great impression of our school and myself on the athletic training staff."

  2. UC President Williams Welcomed by CECH

    UC President Gregory Williams received an enthusiastic welcome from the College of Education Criminal Justice and Human Services (CECH) on Wednesday, November 4th. More than 100 students, staff and faculty crowded the Annie Laws Drawing Room to welcome the new university president, with students introducing themselves and presenting Williams with a "cut in line" pass for CECH's well-known lunch and barbecue events.

    In his brief remarks to the crowd, Williams noted his early careers as a teacher and deputy sheriff. He also expressed appreciation and support for CECH's well-known commitment to the community.

  3. CJ students learn
    power of mentoring

    In Susan Bourke's Criminal Justice classes, service learning is key from day one. "Our criminal justice students know how important mentoring high-risk youth is to our community." Juniors Mike Rengers and Karina McMurrin (pictured at right) serve as mentors to children who have a parent in prison. Students work with groups like Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the Talbert House for a minimum of one year. Hear from Mike and other students on how mentoring has made a difference in their lives too.

  4. Summer Study
    in Cartagena

    TESL/Literacy students spent two weeks in Cartagena, Colombia, observing PK-12 and university-level classrooms and curriculum. Led by Dr. Mary Benedetti, the program explores different educational cultures while taking in the history of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Two students from the trip share experiences in their own words.

Police Officer

Do you aspire to serve and protect? Being a police officer is more than just a job - it requires integrity, dedication and responsibility to your community, both on and off-duty. Through Criminal Justice studies, you'll be prepared to work in law enforcement, the courts, corrections, criminal justice administration, crime prevention, or youth services. If you're already employed in the field, the degree is a great vehicle for career advancement.

Athletic Trainer

Do you love sports and have a drive to see athletes perform their best? A career in Athletic Training focuses on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of physical injuries. You'll learn to educate patients and provide care for a variety of injuries, from minor sprains to chronic medical conditions. Students gain experience in the field studying with the Reds, Bengals, even the Cincinnati Ballet.

As an athletic trainer, you'll not only find job opportunities on the field, but also in schools, universities, hospitals, and fitness centers, as well as in the military, law enforcement, and performing arts - just about anywhere where people are active.

High School Teacher

Do you want to teach where you can focus on your favorite subject? High school teachers specialize in an area such as science, mathematics, English, social studies or foreign language.

You'll gain experience through observation and teaching in the classroom, learning about adolescent development. Teaching at the high school level incorporates problem-solving, critical thinking, as well as technology with curriculum integration. Graduates may teach in public or privates schools, and many opportunities await teachers in the areas of science and math.
